Re: Small volume shipping

Thanks for this. They picked up our package yesterday and it should arrive back to Australia just after we do. Much appreciated.

Re: What UK Items should we buy before we LEAVE !

Bookdepository has solved the books problem, yay.

If you have 4-gang extensions then chop the uk plugs off and put aussie ones on when you get here - saves using loads of adaptors.

UK dairy...

Re: Traveling to work in Melbourne

Ha ha. Coburg ;) But I take less than zero notice of new build places as they aren't on PT.

So I second all the comments re public transport. I would never drive into the city unless I have to,...

Re: Traveling to work in Melbourne

Hi Teri, well done on choosing Melbourne :)

Yes, that's a horrible drive. From Point Cook you'll have to cross the Westgate bridge, which is vile at rush hour, particularly in the direction your...

Baby Food - UK & Aus

We're taking our 7 month old back to the UK in a couple of weeks to meet his great grandparents. I'm pretty much okay with most things but I can't seem to find in the online supermarkets over there...

Re: Negative Gearing for Oversea Property on Aus Domestic Income

Yep, we do. We've always made a slight loss on our property in the UK (rent didn't cover the mortgage at first, then tenants trashed it...) so we've always claimed that back from the AU tax man. ...

Re: Face Ozzie Wildlife

Definitely not the huntsman (found my first one in the house yesterday). I think it would have to be the Echidna. Where else in the world, eh? A cloaca? Good grief!!

Re: Upward inflection

I'd say yes, but, erm, I do it too now. I have a really bad habit of picking up accents and I'm sure anyone who knows me would agree, I now have the inflection at the end of my sentences?

:D

Re: Albury Anyone?

I can't really comment on life in country towns, or living expenses. However, I have been to Albury Wodonga a couple of times and I really like it. I have had the best bacon sandwich in the whole...

Re: Washing Machines !!

Agree - front loaders wash better and use less water. Which anyone, wherever they are in AU, should be thinking about. If you have a machine you like, it works, you know how to use it and its...

Re: [Urgent] Anyone flown Qantas A380 Economy to LA ?

Agreed.

Plus, we flew to LA recently (Pete went Mel-LA-Mel and I went Mel-Syd-LA-Syd-Adelaide) and neither of us got on an A380. I was told that they're only flying the Mel-LA route at the...

Re: What are U All Doing on Xmas Day?

Just the two of us, roast turkey (probably on the barbeque, unless the weather's like it was this weekend). Pressies, DVDs and catching up on time not spent with each other over a mad mad year.

Re: Hailstones in Melbourne this morning.

I've been watching the weather all morning, trying to decide if I can get to the shops and back without getting drenched. The hailstones finally decided me - no. Although we did stop and watch them...
