it took me a while to be able to understand everyone when we first moved up here, it wasn't just the accent it was the words used and the way of saying things that was so different, i'm okay now though and even find myself saying a few things in a scottish accent myself

5 years ago before i had even been to scotland (and no we didn't do a reccie before we moved )i couldn't understand Rab c nesbitt, now i understand it perfectly

Reccie...I like it...LOL!

My all time favourite is 'the messages' as in, 'I'm away down the shops tae get the messages'. I still use it now....it guarantees a blank look!

I am also Australian, and it also drives me crazy!

Not everybody does it (you'll hear it more in Queensland and in country areas), but when they do it, they REALLY do it!
