Default Connell Wagner Melbourne?

Hii...

Just had an interview with Connell Wagner in Melbourne and the offer is on the way!! Yeah!!!!

I was impressed by the company and the projects they involved in, organisation culture, future prospects, benefits etc... But( There's always a "but") it all sounded too good to be true. I'm not trying to be funny but when people starts telling me the bright side, there must be something behind it.

Has anyone worked for this employer or perhaps know someonw who work for them so I could get some inside story? Are they a reputable company there? My agent said there are a very saught after employer and it's a golden opportunity for me since they want me.

They are located at South Melbourne near Kings Street. Is that considered as city centre? Can anyone suggest an area or street for a 1 bedroom flat to live walking distance to the office please? Or perhaps some area that is decent and friendly around there where public transport is convinient?

Please advise... Thanks v much!

Regards,
DaN

Connell Wagner are a very reputable engineering company and one of the top in their field. I used to work as a HR Manager for one of their main competitors.

The South Melbourne office is just off of the Domain Exchange where lots of trams go through. You will find easy accommodation in St Kilda, Elwood Elsternwick but price is something I would not know about.

A two bed apt in the CBD is around the $400-$500 mark per week. One bed slightly less. Ouch.

Gosh!!! $400 per week is about $1500 per month? £750 per month is quite expensive knowing it's probably not in city centre... scarry...

Hhmm... sounds good to me.

So preferbly I should be living in area where a tram station is nearby so I could just pop in tram without changing to bus.

Anyone living in St Kilda, Elwood Elsternwick? Any comments? Convinient store nearby? Shops?

They are all busy inner suburbs. St Kilda and Elwood are beachside suburbs. St Kilda is more bohemian, young and trendy, cafes, bars etc, Elwood is a bit more residential. Weirdstone and Shakmaty live in Elsternwick, they will be able to offer an informed opinion. Also consider South Yarra, Prahan, Windsor.

Connell Wagner are an excellent company (although obviously not as good as Beca!!). Their office is easily accessible from the CBD. Suburbs like South Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Albert Park, Middle Park, St Kilda, South Yarra, Windsor, Prahran are all good and south of the city. We rent in South Melbourne and pay about $450/week for a two bedroom apartment. Try MICM - they're good quality landlords.
