5 since we moved to Melbourne almost a year ago - 3 in the house (including one that was about 3 inches long) and 2 outside. I don't mind them and we try and catch them and put them outside instead...

Ballarat and Warragul are not in Melbourne, they are country towns about 2 hours and 1.5 hours drive respectively (non rush hour) from the centre of the city. Not sure about good and bad areas...

We are in Melbourne but have found that

a) vegemite doesn't taste anything like marmite
b) marnite (by sanitarium) is ok but doesn't taste like Uk marmite
c) Promite tastes like complete crap ...
