Brisbane
We loved it when we went in 96 and there seems to be plenty of work there too.

Adelaide - started off there becuase of the STNI visa but since doing research realised it's the perfect place for us to start our family

We chose Brisbane cause we have friends there-found it easier finding our feet this way,the couple also have kids around our kids ages so this helped make things a bit easier for our kids to see & play with people they new straight off, they all go to the same school together now too.
I have relations in Perth too,so if we dont settle here we will give Perth a go

From: Ducking distance from Perth Airport!

Obviously not many expats decide to settle in Darwin! I made the move from South Australia , as far away from ex husband as I can get!
Best move I've ever made!

We've got a real problem now...
As I said we are planning on Melbourne. But, we have been talking about the weather and beaches and how important they are for us and we have been considering thinking about the Brisbane area; probably Noosa, we think.
Importantly we have never been to Queensland.
We have some very close friends who are moving to Melbourne, definitely, and we are now in a qaundry as to whether we stick with them and Melbourne, which we know we like as we have spent some time there, or check out Noosa/Brisbane/Sunshine Coast way.
This poll hasn't helped as it's just highlighted how many people choose Brisbane; you can't all be wrong!
We only want to make the choice once and, obviously, want it to be the right choice.
We're not planning on going until October but are going to have to do some hard thinking between now and then.
Cheers.

Sorry, I forgot to ask.
Replying to my own post again...
Why are so many people doing the poll but not explaining their reasons?
Cheers.

Melbourne for us - why? because hubby was offered a job here (and I got the first job that I applied for once we had arrived). We absolutely LOVE Melbourne. You can drive to beautiful beaches in an hour, and the snow in winter (!) and the city itself is great - so much to do. We find the cost of living here pretty good too. Downsides are the cooler winters (and, at the moment slightly unpredictable summers!) but before last week we had a barbie pretty much every night in Jan. I guess different people are looking for different things but Melbourne suits us just fine

Brisbane, in the bayside area, because its a gorgeous place to live, and you get the sea breezes too,and plenty of work around.
