Re: anyone from altea

I have an apartment in Altea, in the old town (the bit up the horrible hill!). It's a town that definitely considers itself to be a cut above the average Costa Blanca town, no question.

It's a...

Re: Cheap Hostels in and around Benidorm

I searched on hostels in Altea and they produce a woeful list, including at least two hotels that are certainly not cheap. Altea is very close to Alfaz, and it does have a hostal in the old town...

Re: As you were.

Isn't there a huge change? As in ridiculously enormous urbanisations, property prices falling, and Northern Europeans staying away from the property market?

All so very predictable. I'm glad I...

Re: Need a quick answer!

I've been to one in Albir that was quite good, but I don't remember the name, it certainly wasn't on the N322.

I think Himalaya is pretty dreadful really. The food isn't great and the place,...

Re: My first experience of the Spanish hospitals.

My first occasion (and only occasion) of Spanish hospitals came about somewhat vicariously. My mother - in her eighties - collapsed and and ambulance was called.

She was whisked, no questions...

Re: Thumbs up to Telefonica

I have to say that I was really impressed with both Telefonica and our estate agents when we bought our apartment - the phone (really spanky smart and far more sophisticated than anything readily...

Re: Will a freeview box work in spain

[QUOTE=Miss Naughty]Hi,
I know some people say t.v is not everything, South of Beni and North of Javea, believe me, that has the problem.

Re: Will a freeview box work in spain

Lucky you. No chance about a mile or two north of Beni or a mile south of Javea. No go zone.

Re: Will a freeview box work in spain

My bugbear subject! I think it rather depends upon your geographical location in Spain. For me, currently the answer appears to be "No", unfortunately.

Re: Sites in Benidorm

There is a caravan site just south of Altea, but I don't recall the name or know what it is like, so I'm sorry I cannot be of more help. Perhaps if you googled "camping +sites +Altea +Spain" you...

Re: Can anyone help me regarding Sky+

Slingbox seems to be an interesting alternative, if you live in an area with poor satellite reception. Has anyone any experience of using this in the Costa Blanca/Altea region?

Re: Mitzyboy

I'm glad he's OK. I've not been around for a while but he was great in the days when I was. I hope the move went well for him.

Re: Buying electrical and furniture On-Line in Spain

Do you speak Spanish? Fluently? If the answer to both of those is "yes" and prices seem substantially cheaper, then it would seem a logical solution.
If there is a slight hesitation on either...

Re: Don´t buy property in Spain or you will lose a lot of money

Hi, casa del sol, welcome to the site and all that! I couldn't agree with you more. When I bought my holiday home I looked at two apartments, one far bigger and with better views - if that's...

Re: Don´t buy property in Spain or you will lose a lot of money

I haven't been to the Costa del Sol for years, is it really more developed than the Costa Blanca? The mind boggles.

To be fair, that doesn't seem unreasonable. Eating a sandwich or using a mobile, either way, the driver cannot be fully concentrating on driving, nor are two hands instantly available on the driving...

I've never been to Hong Kong or China, so certainly cannot comment with your authority on the subject, but yes, most Chinese restaurants (and Indian - I know a bit more about them) are woefully poor...

Re: Don´t buy property in Spain or you will lose a lot of money

I was extremely grateful to get shot of our "buy to rent" property in the UK (Sussex) earlier this year. For the first three months of it being on the market I got derisory offers which I refused. ...
