Re: What did you feel right before you emigrated?

Re: Dog despair!

We had this problem, but found when people met us they realised we weren't a pair of gypsies. One even said, "you look nice and clean"

At the end of the day, landlords want the rent paid and the...

Re: Marketing jobs in Auckland- what's it like?

I work in Comms in Welly, but have marketing colleagues in Auckland...it's not much different to the UK.

They are a bit behind in terms of skills though.

Re: LONELINESS, some questions.

We have made good friends and acquaintances in our 2.5 years here - our best friends are expats, but we have Kiwi mates too.

It's not the same as back home because they've known me 20 years. But...

Re: Emigrating with Dog in Tow

GA are brilliant. We arrived two weeks before them so we could find...

Re: Emigrating with Dog in Tow

We managed to get a rental ok with two dogs, though it had mould and was freezing but that's not unusual here. Now in our own pad with double glazing, central heating, insulation.

We...

Re: An honest opinion on New Zealand for people thinking of moving here

We left our son behind (he's 23). He came on holiday and found it dull and I can understand that.

Kayaking, cycling, dining out, peace and quiet, sun, sea, sand...it's our idea of heaven but not...

Re: NZ vs UK - not all it's cracked up to be. Is it just me?

I'm from near you and I much prefer my life in New Zealand! NZ is like Scotland only better....

I took a step back workwise - a conscious decision and while I work slightly longer, the weekends...

Re: Tax refunds if you arrived in NZ last year

I arrived last April and started work an August and got a good whack back! Course no one tells you this - I found out from my kiwi colleague who'd just come back from her OE.

Re: Wellington appears to be the place

Don't have kids so can't comment on the schools, but we lived in papakowhai for 18 months and liked it. Just moved into our new house in Whitby which isn't far away.

It's a bit of a commute, but...

Re: Things you would never have done before you got to NZ - downbeat stuff

I can't wait! We had a lovely house in the UK but have been in crappy rentals (here and in the UK) for two years thanks to having 2 big dogs.
