Re: RAIN FOR THE WHOLE OF SPAIN

In 8 years -mainly inland Granada, latterly CdS - I can only remember one bit of rain in June and that was barely spitting. Could be my faulty memory of course but the kind of week they are...

Re: Spain's cajas - unholy mess

I have read the Economist for decades and up until recently have held it in high esteem: very independent minded and cuts to the point most of the time. BUT there have been a few times recently...

Re: Moving to Estepona

Benahavis, at least around the A7, has got a bit ordinary and unattractive. Agree with you about the San Pedro roadworks - they seem to be going on forever but presumably when it's finished all...

Re: Residency

I have had to produce my residency certificate a couple of times: to change my driving licence and to join a health club for some reason.

Does the 30/90 day thing really matter given that so many...

Re: Obtaining an NIE number

Definitely no photos required and it is a simple enough process to get a NIE these days, particularly if you are resident or plan to be. You just do the EX16 form to get an EU residents certificate...

Re: Autonomo - too old

I registered a 68 year old Danish engineer as autonomo last week and there were no questions asked in either the Hacienda or Social Security. Sounds absurd to me.

Re: AUTONOMOS - how to avoid paying the 250 euros per month.

A really interesting thread for people put off the autonomo by the high fixed cost. Goodness knows Spain needs more people to start businesses legally and I’ve always thought the fixed social...

Re: Dvds in Spain??

I am keen film watcher (saw The Hangover at the weekend and it was brilliant) but have never downloaded a film in my life. Just recently though I have come across lots of people, like some of the...

Re: Renewal of Spanish Driving licences

Actually Fred can you confirm something for me - that people driving around on UK licences still have to have the medical. I have heard conflicting reports.

Re: Weather in Nerja

I enjoyed the extreme weather hub as well. Well done Suki. I used to live near Granada and took loads of photos of our first snowy winter thinking it would be unusual. Must have had 4 in 8 years...

Re: Labour Party revival

Interesting thread. Given their record, Labour should lose heavily and be out of power for a decade or more just as the Tories were after they lost the trust of the country in the 1990s. However...

Re: Stamina

I don't think the astonishing amount of rain would put too many people off as (1) it's been a hard winter in Britain anyway and (2) we all know we have about nine months of great weather to look...

Re: Leaking like a sieve. Anyone else's house wet this morning?

I too am getting fed up with being philosophical about the weather and saying "well we're lucky most of the time". I have two houses which have sprung leaks just at the wrong time and another deluge...

Re: warning - hacienda/tax man in Spain

I sympathise with you - it's not just the money but all the time mucking about putting right an error that was their's in the first place. Perhaps though a sign that the El Taxman is getting tougher...

Re: LOCATION ADVICE PLEASE

Casares the town is inland but it's municipal limits include a strip of coast with some development on. It's about 5 mins from Estepona (I agree with the last poster - it would be a good contender...

Re: LOCATION ADVICE PLEASE

I agree. I actually live down the coast, in the quieter, cheaper () area of Casares Costa. Not quite as busy and glitzy as Marbella but I love it - great countryside, beaches, close to Gib...

Re: Satellite dish alignment

I had my dish realigned after a storm recently. Don't know how much it cost as the rental agent took care of it but if it was 50€ or so I'd think that was very reasonable. He was stuck up on the...

Re: DRIVING LICENCE MADNESS

I didn't think you could swap your licence for a Spanish one using a certificate of entitlement to drive. In fact I am pretty sure you can't (in Malaga at any rate).

Re: Anybody see this in Marbella/Puerto Banus?

I'll be watching. It's not often where you live (or nearby) is on telly. His travel shows do come over a bit staged and gimmicky with his desire to bring in some kind of celeb every two minutes but...

Re: What's on? Live entertainment in Costa del Sol

Re: Spanish Banks.

I feel sorry for the people forced to give up their Spanish dream, hand the keys back to the bank and return to the UK with the worry of a mortgage debt hanging over them. I feel less sorry for...
