Re: Scotland to Darwin

We lived in Darwin for a while and it's one place we've lived that I'd consider returning to, although probably only for a few years rather than forever. Found it much quicker to settle in than other...

Re: Returning Melbourne after 7yrs

I'm a reverse ping-ponger - lived in Scotland in my early 20s and loved it, spent over a decade moving all over the world whilst trying to navigate UK visas, and after 18 months "living the dream" in...

Re: Is Moving To Australia Still Worth It In 2017/18

I'd say that if it's something that means a lot to you - just do it.

We are in our 2nd year in the UK after 13 years devoted to trying to move...

We have recently moved to Nerja with our daughter. There are a few other expat families here (also in nearby Frigiliana), but not as many as I imagine are in other areas of Spain (west of Malaga, for...

Re: Sick leave transferrable? Teacher Rego from one state to another...

Transferring teacher rego is not too hard depending on where you are going. I transferred my Qld rego to the NT in record time last year - I think it took about a week for my NT reg to come through...

Re: DAY 8 in Queensland, is it just Queensland, or other states too?

I've only heard of it in Qld - I attended small schools here as a kid & remember the frenzied campaigns at the start of the year to try to get or keep a teacher!

Have you had any luck in the...

Re: Securing a teaching job in Queensland - Bizarre system

You're absolutely right - state system in Qld is bizarre & no, not all states are the same. It's an attempt to get decent teachers evenly distributed across a vast geographic area, and not all...
