Re: MacBook Air - I wanna buy one...
Do you know anyone who's a student who could order it for you as you'd get discount.
We're Apple fans I have a shuffle, I'm on my 2nd Macbook, we have 2 itouches, we bought an ipad about 2 months ago (really glad we did as hubby is back in the UK at the moment & it's meant lots of facetime/skype calls) & we've just bought a new imac (got student discount as I've just started at uni) & we haven't sold the old one yet so we have 2 of them at the moment.
The only reason I got a Macbook in the first place is because hubby stuffed up When he originally ordered his imac he forgot to use Quidco so he cancelled the order (within about 10 minutes of placing it) & re-ordered through Quidco. I'd been pestering for a Macbook for ages & just before my birthday a few years ago there was one on the reburb store. As a joke to wind me up he added it to his basket & ordered it thinking he could cancel it again like he had done with the imac. More fool him!! Turned out you can't cancel refurb items. Thus I got my Macbook

According to the US apple store, the 13" 256gb model is USD1599 (A$1520 according to Oanda). The AU apple store sells the same one for A$1800. For the sake of $280 (you'll need to deduct the cost of shipping from the US from this) is it really worth the buggering around?
Cheers

Re: MacBook Air - I wanna buy one...
Just buy one from Apple in Australia. For that measly amount you'd save faffing about getting it from another country, then buying the appropriate charger, it's pointless.
If you want one - go buy it. Although, I'd go for a MBP. The Air is just a budget netbook to keep Apple in the lower end of the market. No DVD drive, RJ45 socket etc, basically just useful for web browsing, so you might as well get an iPad if that's all you want it for.

I have the MBA 13inch and it is more powerful than my 2008 macbook pro. Inf act, from what I read, it out performs last years pro as well.
DVD drives are on their way out. Most media is downloadable now.
If you're not video editing or gaming, get the Air.
