Re: Hi! Boston/Cambridge

I've just finished my second Winter here and can attest to a couple of things:

Re: Hang Luggage restrictions?

And is being strictly enforced - especially bag size. Queue for security at Heathrow yesterday was longer than I'd ever seen it before (10x) but moved pretty quickly. However, it gets very hot in the...

Re: Winter Studs

Bob,

I got some Dunlop Graspic DS-2 tyres from Tire Rack - they arrived really quickly and were very cheap - $59 each. For the snow that we had here in Mass last year they were great and worked...

Re: Time to renew my Brit passport.

I've heard conflicting information about this - speaking to the UK embassy here they said I need at least six months left on my passport to be able to re-enter the US after a 10 day trip (I'm leaving...

Re: Do I need a passport to get into Canada ?

I saw in the local paper that they are changing the borders of the US by Jan 2007 so that everyone (including USCs) will need a passport. This is for air and boat at first and then next for car later...

Smile Re: One more DVD thread!

I've got the Yamaha S5750 (IIRC). It was region free with the 0000 trick and is progressive scan and plays DivX etc. I got it from J&R electronics via Amazon within about 2 days.

It's a good...

Talking Re: Anyone got HD TV?

Let me begin by saying that my wife is bored of me saying 'God I love HD' every time we watch shows like 'how I met your mother'. I watch non-HD channels only when there is no version on HD.

I...

Re: international driving license

When I did mine in MA there was snow so when we came to the 3-point turn the road was too narrow for me to do it properly (i.e. not turn wheels while stationary, etc), so I took 5 points not 3.

Re: The Amazing Race

Re: International Autosource -- kosher or not?

I think it depends on the state - I'm in Mass and they took my clean driving license and 5 years no claims into account and it reduced my premium by about 50%.

Re: Now they've really P*ss*d me off

ROTFL

I do that all the time with my USC wife - she thinks I'm just a whiney git but given the recent conversation about customer service in the US it just makes me sad and I have to laugh.

Re: Buying a House in USA

We just went through buying a house and I learnt several things from it:

That's weird because I did exactly that. I set up the confirmed account by seeing the 20 odd cents that Paypal deposited.

I then tried making the payment and it came up as delayed. Looking into it...

Re: Paypal and Direct Debit

Hmm, thanks. I wondered about that, but as far as I can see even that takes time. Paypal won't pay the payee until they receive the money from me.

I have to admit I haven't tried the electronic...

Re: Calling from US to UK mobile--any suggestions?

Don't forget that to call a UK mobile costs nearer 20 Pence per minute on SkypeOut. Got caught like that myself...

To get round it I set up a SkypeIn number with a UK number and can then have that...
