Bring the estate agents brochure of the house you're selling in the UK and show the rental agent that.

It impressed ours enough to give us the property with no refs, oh, and a look at our bank...

I've only been in Australia 6 weeks, but every job I've enquired about worked at least 50 hours. The most extreme being 72 hours a week.
