I had a Ford Fiesta insured with Allianz, late last year I changed my car to a new VW Golf and they were still the best value, in Melbourne at least.

Moved from Rochdale in March 2009. Filled a 40" container (to the brim) which cost $3500 + insurance.

A good place to buy from is JB-Hi Fi. We were offered a discount without even asking for it. We bought a Tom Tom a few months after we got here and it's been our best gadget buy and easy to use.

Mine is with Allianz. Adverts are annoying but prices are competitive.
House insurance is AAMI who might also be worth checking.

As there is just the 2 of us we only needed 1 bedroom...
