Flight upgrades

My brother got upgraded a couple of months ago when going to Hawaii he asked and they said for $300 extra he could so he took it. Evidently if you ask for an upgrade elsewhere its a $1000 now. So money is the key now I think.

Travel alone, look very smart, be descrete - it's still rather unlikely! I'd much rather check in online and pick a good seat in economy than rock up to the desk hoping to get upgraded and not only ending up still in economy but in an awful seat! Not worth the risk when you look at the odds

I've only ever been upgraded going to the US a couple of times from Economy to First Class and both times we didn't ask and it was unexpected. That was a good 8 years ago now and I think times have changed.
