Re: Free banking recommendations

HSBC are really just a business bank in NZ, you're better going with someone else. Personally I can't rate BNZ highly enough, partly due to a good person at the bank (who has now left). AFAIK every...

Re: Vehicle shipping - how do they work out the GST?

Didn’t spot it in the thread but apologies if it’s been mentioned. The value of the bike (assuming it’s the same as cars) is the purchase price less a % each year - 3yrs=75% IIRC. It’s on the...

Re: Parking Fine, 1400% increase???

Wilson Parking are officious I'd pay up and try to remember to never give them any money ever again. I used to pay $80/month to park at work (who own the car park but Wilson run it) after I moved to...

Re: Mobile phones in NZ ???

Just thought I'd mention a couple of points:

UK iPhones are locked to the network - check if they will unlock it for you. It is possible to unlock them yourself, but you need to be careful to...

Re: Phone contact between UK and NZ

We use Skype and/or mobiles.

Currently Vodafone do $2 for 60 mins to a UK landline, but in theory they could change that at any time as it is a special offer (but has been going for around 12...

Re: newly qualified nurse...

I would think you'd get a better response contacting the hospitals directly. In Wellington there are two public and around five private hospitals. If you're newly qualified I would think that...

Re: Children born in NZ to UK citizens

You probably don't need both, but they keep talking about changing the laws and whilst this is unlikely to be back-dated, if I were you I'd make sure your kids get a UK passport before the rules...

Re: visa options for nurses

As a nurse you won't have a problem getting a job here. The quickest way to get over would be to get a work visa (takes a matter of days) but PR would take around 3-6 months (IMO). Check your...

Re: From airport to destination with all our luggage??

Try www.supershuttle.co.nz for your trip from the airport - they have minibuses with a trailer for the luggage and are much cheaper than a taxi. $82 for your trip.

Re: Passport about to run out - how do I swap PR & RRV ?

Only going to be in the UK for 2 weeks ax. so not realistically an option to get a new passport and get it to NZ house for a stamp swap. Will have to do it in NZ. Technically I will be 'illegal'...
