Re: Dubai vs Abu Dhabi vs Qatar

If you discount Qatar, as a parent I would choose Dubai over Abu Dhabi. I have been told that housing is less expensive and more choice in Dubai versus AD and more schools and easier to get into in...

Re: Family Visa requirements - Abu Dhabi

My husband's company has told us the same thing. Not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Many of us friends there are finding places and getting tenancies so they can sponsor their...

Re: Attestation of Certificates & Visa Procedure

We are using VitalCertificates to get our documents attested. They will handle getting the notary, then FCO and then UAE embassy stamps on the certificate.

Re: Abu Dhabi offer... thoughts?

Based on the research that we've done, that's a decent salary when everything else is included. The big thing is if you have kids, make sure you get an education allowance.

Re: Sponsoring children into AD

According to the paperwork given to us by my husband's new employer, yes this is possible and is exactly what we are doing. We are in the process of getting our marriage certificate and the birth...

Re: Should teens be made to do chores?

My 16 year old girl has a part-time job (usually only 7 hours a week) and is in Year 11. She is expected to unload the dishwasher, clean her bathroom, do all of her own laundry and ironing and takes...

Re: Living on the Sunshine Coast but work in Brisbane...

Molly,

My husband either works in the City or Toowong based on what the client needs that day. We have 3 daughters (16 and 7 year old twins). We have been here for 2 1/2 years now. The girls...

Re: Living on the Sunshine Coast but work in Brisbane...

We are from a village of 130 people and we moved to Brisbane. We live in the western suburbs of Brisbane and it is very much like what we are used to. My husband also lived away during the week in...

Re: Best places to live in Brisbane

I do love Toowong and if I could have afforded what I wanted, then I would have stayed. That house you showed is one of my favourites and I would move onto Miskin St in a heartbeat to have that...

Re: Best places to live in Brisbane

Toowong is definitely lovely but you need serious amounts of money to get anything with a decent garden. We had a very healthy budget and we still would have had a postage stamp garden or a...

Re: Best places to live in Brisbane

We lived in Toowong for 18 months and then moved a bit further out as Toowong was a bit too busy and houses too close together for us. We moved further west to Pullenvale and love it out here but...

Re: rush hour commute times - Brisbane and the suburbs

Re: rush hour commute times - Brisbane and the suburbs

I live in Pullenvale, past Kenmore, and I can to my office in St Lucia in about 30 minutes in rush hour. My biggest bottleneck, which I can avoid with back roads, is on Moggill Rd where it meets the...

At 9pm during my eldest daughter's rowing season as we have to be up at 3.45. On weeknights out of season I go to bed between 10.30-11 and around midnight 1am on weekends.
