Does anyone knows from their or friend/family experience on how much time security clearance is taking for British nationals for roles in Abu Dhabi?

Depends what the role is, what sector you are working in, how efficient your PRO (or security officer) is, etc. 2 weeks to 2 months...

Of the 300 or so "western" people we've security cleared over the past 2-3 years (for managerial/professional type positions), no-one has taken remotely that long. As I said, 2 weeks to 2 months is normal - even those people who have been rejected (not often, though it sometimes happens and never for any obvious reason we could understand) get told in that timeframe. The longest I have ever come across was between 2 and 3 months - and that is not usual any longer.
For an urgent recruitment, and using a bit of client wasta in support, we've done it in 2 days.
If it takes a year, someone is either lying or being unbelievably inefficient.

no it really will depend on the job sector but i have heard many people moaning how long it is taking and its not just 2 months it can be 4 or 6 months and even longer. being rejected and passing first time, so there is no way of knowing generally how long, it will depend on factors of which company, pro's, wasta, etc etc.

I just got my security clearance for Abu Dhabi in the oil industry and it took exactly 1 month.
From what people told me, it is between 2 weeks and 2 months and generally if it is rejected, it is in the first 2 weeks (less paper to fill so it is quicker).

My husband's took exactly one month as well.
