The wood stores are on the RHS as you drive into Satwa on Satwa Road from Jumeirah. Park as soon as you see stores and just walk along. There are several.

What I notice increasingly is the change in the small traders in Satwa, Karama & Bur Dubai. Not only are prices increasing, but the level of friendliness and willingness to bargain are decreasing...

We lived in Baku 96-99 with our (then) 9yr old son. It was definitely a hardship posting then, but things have improved quite a bit.

I have quite a few Azeri friends who I still keep in touch...
