Residency visas valid for 3 years, only way to acquire is through employer (or sponsor) or Free Zone Authority in case of self employment.

Can people acquire UAE citizenship after some time of residency visa?

Though - this could mean finding the hidden door, submitting 10 to the power of 6 forms, quoting pi to 5,000 decimal points while standing on your head and drinking a hot sweet glass mug of tea...

Think that was just Face and some wishful thinking

As for the criteria surely they wouldn't make it that easy

You can also get a residency visa if you buy property here; however, that must also be renewed (I'd be interested to know under what circumstances they would NOT renew it). But if you take a job, your residence visa must be provided by your employer.

The residency visa is issued for the head of the household. He must sponsor his family. This visa does not allow you to work in the UAE

True, you need a labour card. This is provided by your employer. However, residency sponsorship must be provided by your employer, even if you own a property.

I personally know an Australian couple who obtained their residency visas in the last couple of months through purchasing an apartment here. They are retired. You can only apply for your visa once you have possession of the unit. He got his residency through property ownership and then had to sponsor his wife. Had to pay a 10,000 Dhs deposit for her, refundable only when they finally leave the country. Another "fee" . . .

If you have a dish antenna sticking out the roof of your Emaar home and you also lose any warranty that they might have given on your property
