Re: Back 20 months and just starting to struggle.

To the OP
I hope you able to settle soon and make some great friends. It must be hard. I think that you are very brave to make the move back home (wish I could do it)

Hope everything works out...

Re: Back 20 months and just starting to struggle.

Totally agree with this part. It's very easy to strike up conversations with other parents of young children. Everyone is eager to talk about how their child eats, sleeps, what sports they play,...

Re: Annual Leave in Canada

It's been good to hear other people's experiences. If my employer does not allow me to take a career break then I will most likely resign and stay at home with the little ones. I can always apply for...

Re: Annual Leave in Canada

Wow. That's brilliant. Your wife is very fortunate to have that flexibility at work. Wish it was the same in Ontario.
And Iaink - to be honest I haven't looked into the tax breaks for daycare. ...

Re: Annual Leave in Canada

Very true what Tony the Tigger said about it being laughable when people claim Canada is so laid back and family orientated. Hubby and I emigrated to Ontario 10 years ago. At first I enjoyed the...

Re: Canadian Work Atmosphere

I dislike the seniority thing too. Especially when you're trying to book vacation time and you can't get the time off you want as someone who has worked there for 20 years gets first choice all the...

Re: Good Hairdresser Wanted

Thanks for the advice -- am I really the only expat with a dodgy hairdo?

Been living in the GTA for 7 years and am desperately seeking a good hairdresser.

Re: I have been robbed

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear you were a victim of crime. I understand how you must be feeling. It's horrible that some scroate had the gall to do that to you and your family.

However, if this had...

Re: Brampton Ontario

Georgetown is very nice, only about a 15 minute drive to Brampton. It's surrounded by countryside, but handy for Highway 401, for travelling further afield to Mississauga and Toronto.

It's not...
