Were that not close enough to Bryson's description, I arrived at LHR early in the morning and drove to MK. Of course, the room wasn't ready so I drove to the parking lot of a mall (not at all American that) and tried to sleep in the car parking lot. Alas the rental car (Jaguar X Type) had a motion detector alarm so when I fell asleep and rolled over sirens went off. Awoken by this I blundered into the mall in search of a restroom/bog and found a sale of film memorabilia featuring someone called Lou Ferrigno signing pictures of himself. He's not even a zee lister in the US so Bryson again sprang to mind.
I think Bryson has MK spot on but his Appalachian Trail book is a better one.

The hotel and office looked like Plano/Richardson/Mississauga/anywhereUS but the parking spots were small and I had to pay. Everyone in the office had been supplied by the Indian outsourcer for my client and I ran into a chap I'd worked with in Cincinnati where he'd been on an H1B working for another MNC that denies outsourcing.

You didn't ask how long it's been since I visited Luton, that's decades, so I can't compare Luton and MK, only MK and places in the US or the GTA.

Shatner advertises something involving having huge amounts of money but I don't remember the product, lottery tickets maybe, I know it's something we already don't buy as seeing him didn't cause me to make note never to buy one.

Georgetown is very nice, only about a 15 minute drive to Brampton. It's surrounded by countryside, but handy for Highway 401, for travelling further afield to Mississauga and Toronto.
It's not very built up, there's plenty of shops, recreation facilities and a nice small Main Street.
You could check out the real estate on www.mls.ca and the newer houses on www.newinhomes.com.
