re: NEOM COMMUNITY THREAD
Hi Des1777
For me, it is similar. I had two interviews in November. I had the feeling that it went well. After the interviews, there has been zero feedback so far. I have no idea whether they are considering me for the position or not. It's quite frustrating.

re: NEOM COMMUNITY THREAD
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to write this post a long time ago but got very busy with everything after leaving NEOM. Below is a summary of my experience and take always, this is not an advise for anyone to work or not work for NEOM, this is just my opinion and I’m probably biased against the project.
1- My hiring process journey lasted about six months from the first interview till mobilizing, it was as follows, day 1 - recruiter call, 2 weeks - interview, 4 weeks - verbal offer, 2 weeks - written offer, 3-4 months, medical, visa, moving to NEOM etc…
2- At the start of the hiring process, you get painted the perfect idea about the perfect company and a project that will “accelerate the human race” as they claim, this excitement and rush will continue and peaks around the offer stage, once you accept the offer, and start the on-boarding process, be prepared to face the reality and the realization of how “fake” everything is, tans it’s a down “hell” from there, and unfortunately it continue even after joining.
3- before I accepted the offer, I was told I’ll be in NC2 for 3-4 months, and move to NC1 in a one bedroom apt after. After I accepted, the 3-4 months became 8-12 and after joining it became a minimum of 1 year and first come first serve. NC2 is depressing, hot as hell during the summer and all new joiners are placed at the end of the camp, it’s not convenient, the cabinets are small, it’s depressing, and unbearable especially if you come from Europe, North America or Aus. Not to mention that the commute is exhausting and not as easy as they claim it to be especially when you are expected to do it for a year at a minimum !!
4- the food is amazing on the other hand, better than 5 stars, and the staff at the camp are friendly and helpful, the laundry is delayed, as they are overworked.
5- The vacation is good 30 calendar days, but the remote days are useless 2 days/ months, use it or lose it, and they probably cancelled them now.
6- They money is the best thing especially for singles who don’t have to pay taxes in home country or living expenses for family. This is what I know:
manager grade 7: 60K/month
sr. Manager grade 8: 75K/ month
director grade 9: 90k/ month
thus Is on average and including all allowances (the above is what’s deposited into your bank)
You need to provide prove of current income before you get an offer, and you get a 25% increase in gross annual salary (no bonus included). I only submitted a salary letter from my company HR and no paystubs (I could have lied to get more money, no verification of any sort).
if you aren’t single, and have to pay taxes and living expenses else where, you should seriously think of you should accept, I wouldn’t personally knowing what I know now, but I’d still accept knowing what I know now only to make some extra money in a few months.
7- Now to the work, the work culture is very toxic, most processes don’t work, it’s a nightmare to get anything done, especially procurement. Think of a punch of people all coming to be part of the dream and build the city of the future, they get hit in the face with the reality and adjust the strategy to get as much money out of it for as long as I can stand it, while doing as little work as possible since it’s not meaningful. Think also of the dreamers each with their vision of what to do next with no coordination whatsoever between anyone from managing directors, exec directors, directors, sr/managers to junior staff. It’s chaotic at its best. Not to mention that most people don’t get along work wise, at the executive level more than the junior level.
8- business travel, not sure what to write about it, in a decent company, I’d describe it as abuse of business travel policy but at NEOM, I wouldn’t call it abuse, it’s how managers and above get to travel to see their family, make more money on perdiem, and get to escape the on-site reality, and pretend to be on workshops while at it. I heard that 1 of 2 employees quits within the first 3-4 months, imagine without the business travel !!
9- it’s very difficult to recruit, about 50% of recruits fall out and don’t end up joining, and unfortunately not a lot of ethical people onsite so some (more like most) hiring managers aren’t transparent about the situation nor the work they want from you, some want to get you to do the work they don’t want to do and will keep it a secret till you moved half way across the world, so be prepared.
10- consultants, consultants are more than full time employees and there are gangs and full time employees bringing their own consultants (from previous employers) to support their ideas and visions and possibly financial best interest, so you can imagine how toxic and crazy things are.
11- mental health, the mental state of people on site is noticeably below average, think of a group of people hating what where they are, and what they do, knowing how fake it’s having to pretend and act up to get the cash.
in conclusion, it’s no different than other global companies out there as some of you might say, except that other companies make it livable and bearable to survive or even thrive. But here, you get paid 25% more (more like 50% taking into account living expenses) for a reason. I’m not advising anyone not to join but be prepared and if you can’t do it, or can’t tolerate this bs, then maybe it’s not for you.
lastly, my only advise is if you can take time off from your job to try or explore it for a few months, you most definitely should explore that option.
im not going to reread what I type so apologize for the typos in advance and the negativity !!!

I think:
- The situation must heavily depend on what you are doing and in what department you work (BTW, mind sharing?)
- How one perceives the situation happening around them. There is one objective reality and thousands of subjective ones. Just saying, a positive attitude can go a long way.

👋
Does anyone have a general guide for teaching salaries? If I (ever) manage to get an offer, my husband is a qualified teacher - bachelor degree, with three specialisations, the most relevant being music (the others being Italian and Religious Theory...so useful in KSA 😁)
I've had a good scroll and google, but not finding much on teaching. I understand the general rule is an uplift to current salary, but he's working in our home country in a different sector with much higher salaries than teaching.

hi there, I eventually went through a company in dubai that provided the PRO services for Tasheel at Wafi. It was premium service (paid a little more) and visa received within 24 hrs.

Thanks for the reply. So my on-boarder mentioned that a company in Dubai can provide me a "VIP Appointment" lol. I presume its the same company you went through. (Almasa/Rowan?) I'm still skeptical of the whole thing as I can just set up my own appointment online with Tasheer, but it looks like the "Pro Services" came through for you.
