Re: March Applicants
Help, please can someone clarify things for me?? Our meds were done on the 13th June (hope thats not a bad omen) and sent the following Friday - 22nd June once the blood results were back (no probs with anything on the meds). They were sent by our Dr to Sydney by currier. OUr PCC's were emailed on the 30th June and we had an email acknowleding receipt of these but have not had anything re the meds. Is it usuall to get any acknowledgements from anyone (we are not using an agent). We go on holiday in 3 weeks, exchange on the house this week and my OH needs to give 3 months notice at work - we were hoping to move over early Dec and our time frames seem to be getting squeezed.
If I check my emails once more I think the pc will implode and the postman must think I fancy him as I wait and pounce on him every morning!!
Any advice very welcome or I could just sit and slowly go mad on my own - the not knowing is unbelievably hard.
Thanks

Re: March Applicants
Had a fair few glasses of Aussie Red wine this weekend with OH's rellies who are over from Oz.
It's been a bit wierd with most of our friends and family since we got the visa. My mum is sulking a bit - I think she'll come round eventually, my dad's fine, OH's sister is bearly speaking to us even though we've been round at hers a lot visiting his other sister - the Ozzie one. It's a funny feeling - like we've really really offended people - I can understand the reaction I guess as they are panicking that they'll never see us or the boys again but I can't say that I was prepared for the way people are reacting to it - especially family. Perhaps I was a bit naive?!?
It's kinda taken the shine of the celebrations a bit Don't want to moan cos I know I'm dead lucky having the visa and I know your are all going mad with the waiting
Thank God for BE at least you can talk about Oz and visas with out people running out the room to cry

hi john,
we didn't receive any acknowledgement regarding receipt of meds - i dont think you do?
I think the marchies are in difficult position as regards to time scales for visas. When we were submitting our apps, jan and feb applicants were getting their 136 visa's in 1-2 months (which is the quickest time ever!) but this was partly due to the time of year (DIMA wanting to fill the allocations for the year). Unfortunately, things have slowed down and seem to be going through at the average pace again 6ish months! Although, 6-9 months is about the average timescale anyway.
I know a lot of people are getting stressed about it, but the thing is not to plan dates for moving etc and then you wont think you have deadlines that you are not going to meet?
We have to also think about those Dec, and even before, apps who still haven't got their visas
It will happen!!! Just try and take a step back and chill as you can influence sweet FA!!!

Sam, will just point out
that the new year for DIAC applications is actually july,as pointed out by the DIAC a few weeks ago when we were all asking why things had stopped,as this is when their new tax year starts,at the minute like you say people are getting their visa's at all sorts of times, but it does come down to everybody having some sort of differance on their application, it could be like, yours was stu's passport number and others havent got checks back, some havent done their meds, and some have been messed about with their meds, and some simply havent had theirs looked at since acknowledgement, but like we've all said we all wish that the new day brings us the visa, however much we try not to think about it. does the stress and rollercoaster of emotions calm down when you actually get it ??

Hi kels,
I wasn't refering to feb/march being the end of tax year, i meant july, but if you remember they actually filled the allocations for the year slightly before that, then they had the training (as people are guessing - as none of us actually know what goes on at DIAC)
All i'm trying to say is that we can't change anything about how quickly our visa's are being processed - we are in their hands!
Just trying to put things into perspective - not trying to have a go at anyone

Re: March Applicants
Has anyone dared to book flights so long? Just wondering if I should just book for mid October, instead of not getting any available flights when we find out.
We can probably change the dates with travel agent if it doesn't work out that way, not sure how it works but will love to hear what you guys have done or plan to do.
Cheers

Re: Keep those smiles.
Well lets not all get to down about it all, at the end of the the year we will all be there
Read this and smile.
Once upon a time, there lived a man who had a terrible passion for baked beans. He loved them, but they always had an embarrassing and somewhat lively reaction on him.
One day he met a girl and fell in love. When it became apparent they would marry, he thought to himself, she'll never go through with the marriage with me carrying on like this, so he made the
supreme sacrifice and gave up beans.
Shortly after that they were married.
A few months later, on the way home from work, his car broke down and since they lived in the country, he called his wife and told her he would be late because he had to walk. On his way home, he passed a small cafe and the wonderful aroma of baked beans
overwhelmed him.
Since he still had several miles to walk he figured he could walk off any ill effects before he got home. So he went in and ordered, and before leaving had 3 extra large helpings of baked
beans. All the way home he putt-putted. By the time he arrived home he felt reasonably safe.
His wife met him at the door and seemed somewhat excited. She exclaimed, "Darling, I have the most wonderful surprise for you for dinner tonight!"
She put a blindfold on him, and led him to his chair at the head of the table and made him promise not to peak.
At this point he was beginning to feel another one coming on.
Just as his wife was about to remove the blindfold, the telephone rang. She again made him promise not to peek until she returned, and away she went to answer the phone.
While she was gone, he seized the opportunity. He shifted his weight to one leg and let go. It was not only loud, but ripe as a rotten egg. He had a hard time breathing, so he felt for his napkin and fanned the air about him.
He had just started to feel better, when another urge came on. He raised his leg and RRIIIPPPP!!! It sounded like a diesel engine revving, and smelled worse. To keep from gagging, he tried fanning his arms a while, hoping the smell would dissipate. He got another urge. This was a real blue ribbon winner, the windows shook, the dishes on the table rattled and a minute later the flowers on the table were dead.
While keeping an ear tuned in on the conversation in the hallway, and keeping his promise of staying blindfolded, he carried on like this for the next ten minutes, farting and fanning each time with his napkin. When he heard the phone farewells he neatly laid his napkin on his lap and folded his hands on top of it. Smiling contentedly, he was the picture of innocence when his wife walked in.
Apologizing for taking so long, she asked if he had peeked at the dinner table. After assuring her he had not peeked, she removed the blindfold and yelled, "SURPRISE!!!"
To his shock and horror, there were twelve dinner guests seated around the table for his surprise birthday party.
