I have the exact same TV as you that I brought across a few months ago KDL40w2000

Ditch your set top box and use the digital TV tuner build into the tv. Mine works a treat in Adelaide

I went with a job lined up and as a single bloke. I brought 3k pounds with me and could have easily got by with 2k. You get paid here every 2 weeks instead of 4 which makes it easier

PAL signal has a number of formats. The UK i think uses PAL 1. Australia are on PAL B/G which has different sound channels or something

Look in the specification in the manual or look your telly...
