Re: Life Certificate/ Proof of Life re UK State Pension

I realise there are reasons why they might not accept confirmation on the HMRC's online portal but surely they could -place alerts about it being sent and confirmed on there, given that lack of funds...

Re: And now, the Spanish digital nomad visa

Sad thing is that all the UK govn had to do was have a residence test (five to ten years) before any access to welfare or social housing and most would not object to FOM.

Re: Type of Visa advice and how fast is it to get one

I do have a brit passport but when I applied for a multi-entry visa I was told that I could not have one until I had a single entry in my passport

Re: national I D card

In the UK the driving licence and passport databases are interlinked, presumably on the same computer system, bet each id card in PI has completely separate databases that will not talk to each...

Re: A New Marcos Era?

His father was ok with most things as long as there was a flow of money for him out of it, but the son must be overloaded with family dosh so no need to replicate that thinking.

Re: Petition to UK govt to increase state pension

In the UK the state pension is okay, if eaten away by the thieving scum at the council (council taz), if you own your own house and don't mind cold showers and minimal heating... paying rent out of...

Re: 25% pension tax free and house sale CGT

No split tax years in Spain so it has to be done before end of year and then move in the next year (even coming for a holiday in the tax year when sold may be taken as being a resident for tax...

Re: Siquijor vs Siargao better to live?

As well as typhoons there is also rising sea levels, if one does not get you the other may. Had a sudden vision of building a house on hydraulic stilts so you can burrow downwards into the ground for...

Re: CHILD SUPPORT

British law will apply to the husband if he is living in the UK, if he is on benefits some of that money will be taken off the benefits - it is not a huge amount but it would go quite far in the PI....

Re: Barclays Account Frozen

There is hopefully a difference in treatment of British passport holders and others, which would explain the post Brexit changes as EU nationals had to be treated the same as Brits when we were in...

How were retirees treated during Covid

Just wondering how those on retirement visas feel they were treated during Covid. Pre-Covid I was thinking about spending time in a few different countries rather than settling in one but with the...

Re: Me and My Family

It is an interesting separation, a grey area where the "marriage" is concerned. As I understand it, in the PI the husband is liable for all the wife's debts, so he may be able to pay her off but will...

Re: Me and My Family

Potentially a very good ending, though still the marriage status to resolve - presumably in a way that does not put the "wife" in jail - though I would guess she is keen to get another foreigner to...

Re: Peninsular MM2H reactivated from October, new conditions

I almost did this but it would have been ruined by Covid, being either locked in or locked out of countries and possibly being hammered by tax if you stay more than 180 days in a tax year because you...

Re: Easiest (cheap/fastest) way to get an EU passport

Compared to what we had pre-Breixt it is all a dismal mess. On Ireland, any thoughts what would happen if NI decided to join Ireland and hence EU, would free movement between the new Ireland and UK...

Re: Me and My Family

Not much of a case, as you say, I imagined much worse (fictional) abuses but you do have to bear in mind that you are in a country where Filipino men treat their women with absolute respect, never...
