Petition to UK govt to increase state pension
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/584971
This is the link for anyone who wants to sign. I really don't think they will increase to 400 gb pounds per week, but it might raise awareness as to the pitiful sum that some folk are expected to live on - not everyone has savings suitably invested to pay for their old age, and especially in this time of zero/low percent interest rates.

Re: Petition to UK govt to increase state pension
In the UK the state pension is okay, if eaten away by the thieving scum at the council (council taz), if you own your own house and don't mind cold showers and minimal heating... paying rent out of it would made life very hard but I think you can get some help with that if it is your only income and you don't have much savings. Would make sense to match it to the personal tax allowance (£12500) and exclude pensioners from other benefits to save money. Personally, I view it as a tax rebate of the excess money previously stolen off me (given council and govn inefficiency and wasteful nature) and hopefully will live long enough to get a full rebate!
Given the pensioner vote I think it will be the last thing to go if severe cuts are needed, especially as it could be counter productive in terms of state spending on keeping older people safe, though applying a residence test to it might have some appeal to the political class.
