Re: Student visa, 92 weeks study question!

I thought it needed to be CRICOS registered as 92 WEEKS and that's the amount of time to take the course.

However, If you work it all out it's actually impossible to study at TAFE for 2 years...

Re: House Prices set to jump by 20%

An excellent point. One of the issues Oz has is the fact that over the last 100 years there have been no new cities actually built other than the Capital - which considering it's % population growth...

Re: House Prices set to jump by 20%

Ofcourse they are overvalued, quite frankly it's crazy to suggest otherwise in today's global climate. Most migrants we know that have arrived since us are astonished at the house prices.

But...

Re: working more than 20hrs on studnet visa

Quite agree, we battled our arses off for 2 years on the Student Visa, sometimes getting paid for the 900 hours work experience but more than often not! But this was our choice and our one shot so...

Re: Australia has a sh!tstorm waiting to happen!

I think clearence rates can be a bit of a red herring to be honest.

Real Estate Agents will happily suggest an auction when a quick sale is needed, particularly if you've had your house on the...

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

We still have some savings in the UK and a UK credit card.

At the risk of sounding dense, does this mean that if we bought goods in Australia in Aussie $ (using our Credit card) and paid this off...

Re: Who will win the Eng vs Oz ODI Cricket Series?

Feeble excuse in your opinion but it's the way I feel. I love Cricket but quite frankly I couldn't give a stuff about these matches. Like I don't give a stuff about England's friendly football...

Re: Who will win the Eng vs Oz ODI Cricket Series?

[QUOTE=Vash the Stampede;7935346]And stop me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they won by an incredible margin.

/QUOTE]

Well they won 2-0 in a 3 match series - that meant they didn't bother...

Re: Who will win the Eng vs Oz ODI Cricket Series?

Not to us it's not, it's completely irrelevent.

We won what we wanted to win, the big one, the Ashes. No one gives a stuff here about ODI rankings - didn't even realise Aus aren't No 1 in ODI's...

Re: Who will win the Eng vs Oz ODI Cricket Series?

Let's be honest - nobody cares - it's the Ashes Test Series that's important.

I'm not just saying this because England are losing, but when the Aussies stuffed England 5-0 in 06/07, England...

Re: Birmingham City v Aston Villa, Basils Bar Gold Coast 13th September

A terrible game of football, both sides looked solid at the back, laboured in midfield and looked poor in the final third.

In the ned though it's all about the result of these games and that's all...

Re: Was Gold Coast, now maybe Sunshine, advice plz????

We live on the Sunshine Coast and it's always amazed me that the parochial attitude of the SC locals is very dismissive and quite arrogant when you mention the GC. To be quite frank, they think it's...

Re: I am seriously thinking of cancelling my flights!

Lynn's is a cautionary tale.

I work for a small recruitment agency that is toughing it out along with all of the others. The Labour market for work is tight. Granted unemployment hasn't risen...

Re: A little warning for those planning to bring dogs over to Australia!!

If it were us in this situation I think we'd move, even back to the UK if neccesary before we gave one of our two up. Oz really aint all that when it's a choice between staying here but giving up a...

Re: Laid back Ozzie - is it a myth?

In our experience the 'laid back Ozzie' is certainly a myth, but it's one of many. Not that that's a bad thing mind.

Most of the celebrated Austrlianisms (copyright John Howard) are complete...

Re: Is Hairdressing coming off the list?

Don't get too stressed - these are just rumours. People we're saying all this when we arrived nearly 4 years ago.

The Aussie economy get's a huge boost by overseas students coming over and...

Re: Yet another disappointing "winter" in Australia comes to a close...

It's been 25c+ now for atleast the last week and reached 35c on Monday.

With still a week of 'Winter' to go. Everywhere looking very brown though.

Re: The Ashes

Ponting is simply finding out that it's much harder to win Cricket matches when you don't have Warne or McGrath to toss the ball to.

They got over 1200 wickets between them at 20 runs a piece...

Smile Re: Aston Villa 3 Liverpool 1

Yes a fantastic result - can't believe that was the same defence that looked so disorgansised against Wigan.

We looked solid and well organised and deserved the win.

Up the Villa.

Re: I'm over it. Effing OVER it!

Chin up Johnny.

As has been said it's very difficult to pick up careerwise where you left off in the UK. Particularly tough if you live in Regional Australia.

I'm on approx 40% of what I was...

Re: Pound - AUD exchange rates

Re: Who's going to win The Ashes?

The difference between the two teams in this Test has absolutley nothing to do with leadership.

Australia played very well and every player contributed while England played very poorly with no...

Re: Who's going to win The Ashes?

Had the roles been reversed and it been the Australian team that had been woken at 4.30am and an English fan claimed to have done it, the whinging and selfrighteousness from the Aussie media would...

Re: Who's going to win The Ashes?

It'll be interesting to see what kind of a field Strauss sets.

We need to attack to take wickets and I can see the slips and gully region being well manned but he won't want to give away easy runs...

Re: Who's going to win The Ashes?

Yes but your assuming they'll go at 3.5 an over - I reckon it'll be a no risks approach and will leave as much as they can, especially early on.

At around 3 an over they'll be a lead of around...
