Who's going to win The Ashes?

Wouldn't have had much choice in the matter if they had.
And if it's looking doubtful, they can always send some muppet over to the team hotel to spike their food or something. You know, just in the name of "good old-fashioned Aussie hijinks" ...

But it was, "good old-fashioned Aussie hijinks". I'd hate to see what they were like if it wasn't "hijinks"

How about if someone took a rocket launcher to the Qantas plane bringing the Ozzie team over? Where does the hi-jinx / larikinism start & end? It's just not cricket y'know!

No, he hasn't. He simply said that he's been told it was one of his members. Some idiot has claimed responsibility, but Livingstone has no way of confirming this, since he has no evidence for it (and neither does anyone else).
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that a fire alarm was set off by a woman who left her underwear drying near a lightbulb:
Thus:
West Yorkshire Fire Service said the alarm was set off after some clothing had ignited after being left close to a lamp. The cause of the fire was being treated as accidental, the spokeswoman said

I think I trust the West Yorkshire Fire Service to correctly assess the causes of an early morning fire alarm. Verdict: the Fanatics are lying.

1) No ability to judge how far is too far
2) No moral conscience by claiming responsibility for a dumbass act that they did not actually do.
Funny how the BarmyArmy are the ones taking all the heat from the media for simply booing a pr!ck, yet this is deemed as a "good old Aussie Hijink".
I also recall the Fanatics shouting at Jonas Bjorkman whilst he served during the Davis Cup tie 4-5 years ago

Had the roles been reversed and it been the Australian team that had been woken at 4.30am and an English fan claimed to have done it, the whinging and selfrighteousness from the Aussie media would have been loud and long.
The Fanatics just strike me as a very poor man's Barmy Army, not very funny, no songs and far less in numbers by comparison. If they are now setting off Hotel fire alarms, or even just claiming to, then they are massively missing the point of what the genuine, good supporters are all about.
As for the Cricket - well it's about as complete a defeat as you can get, outplayed in every single facet of the game. England must put this game behind them, have a couple of personel changes for the 5th Test and re-focus at what we did well at Lords and Edgbaston.
It's still only 1-1 and the The Oval is a one off Test and as we know in sport if you play well and have a bit of luck anything can happen.

At least it is good to see Broad standing up to be counted. With Flintoff gone for good by the end of the next test we really need him to step up a gear

Well either way, your fellow countrymen of organised "supporters" seem to be pretty proud to admit it was them. That says to me that they obviously have either:
1) No ability to judge how far is too far
2) No moral conscience by claiming responsibility for a dumbass act that they did not actually do.

Meanwhile, it's great to see England fighting hard to keep those last five wickets alive. Just goes to show that with a bit more discipline, they really can match - and beat - the Aussies. The final test is by no means a foregone conclusion. It's all up for grabs.

Congrats Vash! A fine display of bowling from the Ozzies.

Cricinfo quote: "More disgraceful booing as Ponting comes for a chat.. This is just not on, I'm afraid."

I agree with cricinfo. I almost want Australia to win the Ashes now.
Bad English supporters. BOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I think I want to change my vote. England lost the Ashes on Friday morning of the fourth test. Firstly by winnning the toss and making the wrong decision, and secondly by batting like morons.
Unless England can produce two outstanding bowling performances at The Oval (and that seems pretty unlikely), the Ashes are gone for another four years.

I reckon the Poms will play Flintoff. They'll do everything in their power to ensure he's at the Oval.
The bigger is what to do with the rest of the squad.
After England's farcical performance in the first two days of the fourth Test, there was more than a faint whiff of Dad's Army about Headingley when defeat was sealed on Sunday.
First came the apocalyptic warnings about the rest of the series - "We're doomed - doomed!" Then came the frantic call to arms for the aged and infirm, in this case 39-year-old Mark Ramprakash and the retired Marcus Trescothick. Then, as everyone remembered that it's actually 1-1 rather than 0-4, Andrew Strauss took on the role of Corporal Jones: "Don't panic, Mr Mainwaring!"
All the while, the beaming smile never left Ricky Ponting's face.
Punter has enjoyed himself in Leeds from the moment he arrived. The fact that a full-on English autopsy is now being conducted by the fans and media just makes it even sweeter for him.
"Ah, that's obviously all started, so for us that's terrific," he said with satisfaction in his post-match news conference.
"It'll be difficult for them to bounce back now. Everything is heading in the right direction for us at exactly the right time in the tour."
Strauss, red-cheeked and heavy of heart, did his best to pacify the angry hordes. "I'm never going to make excuses for the way we played on the first morning - the reality is that the first session was awful."
What went wrong? "It's hard to put my finger on it." Has the momentum decisively swung back Australia's way? "I'm yet be convinced it means anything, that word."
(Source).
The difference between both teams right now can be summarised in a single word: leadership. Ponting has rallied a weak Australian side containing rookies and inconsistent bowlers, while Strauss has failed to maintain the momentum after Lords and seems incapable of inspiring his troops.
Judging by history, an English win at the Oval is all but certain (Australia hasn't won an Oval Test for more than 20 years) but even this would only result in a 2:1 series victory, which is less than impressive. England is still a long way from being a #1 team.

The difference between the two teams in this Test has absolutley nothing to do with leadership.
Australia played very well and every player contributed while England played very poorly with no one really contributing at all.
You can be the greatest leader in the world, but if your team have a shocker and the opposition has a blinder there aint alot you can do about it.
It's really is as simple as that.
