A polite response fails me!

Perhaps this should be moved to the immigration section where it can be noticed by people who know a lot about visas, restrictions, etc...

I don't think there is any need - visa restriction is 20 hours per week for an international student. Unlimited outwith term time. End of.

You missed the wink in my post. I was more thinking of the higher ups who know ALL about visas. They are the ones who need to take notice of posts like this You know.... those lovely people at DIAC. DIAC would be likely to browse the immigration section on occasion, but probably not the main section or the barbie.

It makes me furious that the total abuse of the 20 hour work restriction is taking place so blatently. Like others have adhered completely to the rules, and it's not been easy. It's students like this who do nothing but mess up everything up for all genuine students.
As for expecting sympathy for his tax problem! I hope he gets found out and has his visa revoked.

sorry you misunderstood me Kingseat....The original post so 'gobsmacked' me i was compelled to post a comment in response but was so angry thought i might say something i shouldn't! (or may be i should have, without worrying if i was impolite)
But i needn't have worried, plenty of fellow BE have said exactly what i was thinking!!
Note to self.......say it as it is!

This is pretty infuriating to read although I imagine it's pretty common.
It's pretty similar to alot of WHV holders who cheat the system and bribe the farmers for a sign off for the extension or illegally get hold of an ABN etc. It makes me sooooo mad!! It was such hard work getting my 2nd WHV the legal way and then you bump into someone who says "yeh I only did 2 days and paid the farmer $200 to sign me off" :curse:
I definitely think DIAC need to crack down on it more although I do wonder if it's in their interest. I think what pi**es me off the most is how blase some people are about it, like they're so untouchable!
I second moneypenny, I also hope you get caught, you're potentially making it alot harder for the honest people out there.
Grrrr Rant Over!

Incidentally BE does not condone breaking the law, nor does it encourage any breaking of visa rules. Most of us have jumped through hoops to get here and have been confronted with extra rules and red tape because of our particular visa type. With my personal hat on rather than my mods hat I have to say that if some of us are willing to abide by conditions, so should everyone else. And to blatantly admit to flouting those rules is just contemptible.

Stressful, financially damaging times - but we know we are much stonger people for the experience and we played by the rules at all times.
Such blatent abuses of the system makes me and my family very angry tbh.

It will be interesting when DIAC contact this "zahid hyerabad" whether it is him or not...
This situation will only go to strengthen the above case.
20 August 2009
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is strengthening checks on student visa applications to stamp out fraud and ensure students have the financial capacity to live and study in Australia.
The measures will target parts of the student visa caseload in India, ...etc

Re: working more than 20hrs on studnet visa
As well as cheating the system, how do you find time to work more than 20 hours a week in addition to studying full time? Is it because you are also not fulfilling other aspects of the visa requirements such as "must attend for 80% of classes". Enlighten me please
