I can only speak for Calgary - Standard is really variable, mostly expat players from cricketing countries. Teams are in 3 divisions and have 50 over and T20 leagues as well as Midweek matches....

Netball Alberta has junior & senior leagues running year round and even employs a Development Officer who runs school clinics around Alberta aiming to get Netball included in the phys'ed curriculum....

Can't help with the babysitting problem but yes ask around your neighbours, they take it fairly seriously with courses in babysitting, first aid etc ask for certificates.
