I can only speak for Calgary - Standard is really variable, mostly expat players from cricketing countries. Teams are in 3 divisions and have 50 over and T20 leagues as well as Midweek matches....

Netball Alberta has junior & senior leagues running year round and even employs a Development Officer who runs school clinics around Alberta aiming to get Netball included in the phys'ed curriculum....

Back in blighty I played at a beautiful ground at West Wycombe, which was part of Lord Dashwood's estate. First time visitors were often very jealous that we played somewhere so picturesque.

I agree the Hitmen is good fast paced Hockey but the Calgary Roughnecks Lacrosse is another level again. Great entertainment (for a 13 year old) and good value, plus they are the defending NLL...

Can't help with the babysitting problem but yes ask around your neighbours, they take it fairly seriously with courses in babysitting, first aid etc ask for certificates.
