We love Brisbane and have seen it change loads in the 12 years we've been here.

I will say that you do get used to the heat, our first summer was the worst!!

You mention family and friends being the reason not to move away from Bradford. Australia is a long way from the UK with airfares for a family of 4 about $8000 return.

Yes, you'll need to leave Australia for your 457 to be activated when you re-enter.

A 457 is an off shore visa application.

Have a look at www.immi.gov.au for sponsored visas. There is a list of jobs that are eligible under ENS (Employer Nominated Scheme).

I don't think health conditions are considered for an ETA (Tourist Visa) which is valid for a 3 month stay. The conditions might be different for a long stay visitor visa, but I can't understand why...

Have a look at a Long Stay Visitor Visa. It doesn't allow for residency, but you can extend a visit past the normal 3 months and up to 12 months.

My MIL had one in 2007 / 8.

Yes you do get a certificate when you get your citizenship.

Children born in Australia to permanent residents are automatically Australian citizens.

An ENS PR Visa such as a 121 or 856 is not points assessed, it is sponsored and based on you meeting certain criteria to be eligible for the visa.

We just maintain our pool ourselves.

Never had any trouble and just to check we take a water sample to the pool shop about every 6 weeks for testing.

I usually avoid all public transport unless I'm going to a rugby match or event in the city.

I drive to work in Kelvin Grove and it usually takes me about 45 minutes to an hour if I go in rush...

It's been great for us thanks, we really love the place and the lifestyle.

My work life balance is much better here than it was in the UK, so no plans to return.
