Default Removal Companies and Container issues

Just in the process of having quotes to Brisbane PSS,Pickfords,Crowne,John Masons for sole use of a 20ft container could anybody tell me from past experience with any of these companies that the container turns up at your home in brisbane or are all your contents transfered from the container and put in a Removal van at the port.Just wondering has we have been told by 2 different people that containers cannot be transported to peoples homes and another saying that you can.

We are using Robinson's and have had good dealings so far. The container is sent to our home in Northants and then transferred to a removals van and sent to our home Brisbane. We were told by AQIS that containers aren't allowed to leave the ports.

Hi!

In Australia the container is taken from the port to the warehouse where customs clearance will take place where it is unloaded for inspection. Your belongings will then be loaded onto a removal van for delivery to your home.

Providing your home in the UK has good access they can bring the sole use container to your house and load directly into this though.

Hope that helps!

Kirsty

We used john mason, when the container arrived in Australia they transported it from the docks to the warehouse in darra using kent international, where customs check it and then its transported in another container which had KENT INTERNATIONAL down it,a truck turns up at your home and unloads the container, prob not the one that was on the ship but a container.everything thing that goes into the container from the uk goes into anthor crate inside the container then that gets unpacked and placed in a container lose/boxed for delivery to your home in oz

G'day mate

We used PSS to ship our stuff from Biddulph to Brisbane. They were very efficient and there were no dramas. A very minor insurance claim was processed promptly.

There are a few stokies near to us. Could do with a few more Vale fans!

Let me know if you need any more info.

Up the Vale! ;-)

Crown UK were fine, but at the Sydney end were very poor. Many broken items, and some possibly missing: some huge unloaders of "Islander appearance" who just left the boxes despite us having paid for unpacking and box removal.

They *did* pay up promptly on the insurance claim though.

We used PSS.

Excellent service from them and their agent Kent who handled everything when the container arrived in Brisbane.

Don't you just love the search function

Sending requests off today to get quotes for removals from Cardiff to Melbourne later this year. PSS done, now to find Masons & Pickfords. Contents of a 4 bed house & 2 cars to get moved, somehow I think this may be pricey !
