Re: How is your house sale going??

As you say, exchange of contracts is legally binding. The deposit, although commonly 10%, in this day and age of massive house prices, many people don't have 10% in cash hanging about, so a much...

Re: How is your house sale going??

What do the estate agents say? Surely when they pitch for the business they tell you what an amazing list of ready-to-proceed buyers they have, how great they are at marketing etc.

What do they...

Re: standing on a corner with a 10 pound note

Gentle reader, I would suggest this is the complete opposite of what you need to do. Dropping your house 2k at a time implies there are people who can afford your house - if only it were 2k less!...

Re: Another rant - bloody buyers!

It is interesting that this process seems to bring out the worst in people - buyers and sellers.
Sellers know all the drawbacks of a property and, of course, never mention them - try to engineer...

Re: Flippin housing market what's going on at all.

You are, quite seriously, bonkers. If you think that property is going up in the next 6 months - you must be living in a different country from me. You are in the UK? Good idea, take it off the...

Re: Flippin housing market what's going on at all.

Your Estate Agent wants his backside kicking. Having dropped from 305 to 275 your agent should be making buyers aware they can get a bargain at 270 and making them realise an offer of 240 is simply a...

Re: Flippin housing market what's going on at all.

It might be important to realise what is going on. Are we in for a property crash or not? From the perspective of someone who has been a property own er through three crashes - or corrections (1974,...

Re: Cant sell the house but need to validate the Visa

Here in my bubble - things are different. You said "My house is worth what its worth, and who am i to argue." In my bubble my house is worth what anyone is prepared to pay me for it. If I put it on...

Re: Just how many of us have house up for sale?

Wonder how you sleep with your head in the sand?

Simple fact - you all think the world owes you a huge windfall when you sell your houses - but now the FTBs aren't playing the game any more....

Re: House may be going back on market

In most old houses the drains did not go under the house. Drainage in the old days was done with salt glazed pipes with sand/cement joints in the collars or with weak pitch fibre pipes. i.e. bit of...

Re: Just how many of us have house up for sale?

Well, seeing as it seems to be the thing to do here, I have sent you some Karma. A voice of common sense amongst the bleeding hearts who cannot wait for some poor young person to saddle themselves...

Re: see'ing the uk in a different light

One of the main reasons I want to leave the UK is to get away from the yobs. I live in a posh part of the south east and my kids are afraid to go out on the streets.

A while ago I saw two yobs on...

Re: Had an offer on the house

As everyone on this forum has observed - it's a buyer's market and prices are falling. If I were you I would bite the hand off the cash buyer - if she finds out you are still accepting viewings and...

Re: Just how many of us have house up for sale?

In a falling market it is better to take a drop and sell - otherwise you might be still unsold in a year and looking at taking 25% less to sell it. I have made this mistake in two previous house...

Re: Just how many of us have house up for sale?

Currently many building society surveyors have been instructed to value at up to 15% below asking price which is why so many deals are falling through. Many of the lenders are protecting themselves...

Re: Just how many of us have house up for sale?

I wonder why you think the second agent will reach a larger audience? They will advertise the property in the same property paper, probably stick it on Rightmove and send it to the same mailing list....

Re: **** - In need of Karma

Kick your agent up the butt - it's an interesting concept. Do you think agents are happy with the current state of the market? If I say to one of my clients 'you really need to sell because you are...

Re: Just how many of us have house up for sale?

No gamble there, very sensible. No way house prices are going up again in the next 5 years. They are way too far out of aligment with wages.

Re: Sh1t - In need of Karma

To the person who started this thread. I'm sorry about your buyers - this house buying/selling process is a mess.

I'm curious ... why are you leaving the UK?

Re: 20 viewings and not one offer!!!

You definitely want to sack your agent. After 20 viewings they should be talking to you about the feedback and suggesting a way forward. Don't forget, most estate agents are complete wallies - young...

Re: Estate agents dropping asking prices.......

Dear or dear, fair bit of tosh there. Local agent sells 4 properties a year eh? So he can live on 4 commissions a year. Most agents need to sell 4 a month or go under.

No-one looking? Have you...
