Can you still afford to feed,(an average healthy diet including dairy and meat) clothe your kids and buy a house in England?
Then you are very lucky I say.

Just go to scotland to live - it looks really similar to the south island of nz but with better housing and you can keep earning pounds rather than nz dollars that don't go far in a global economy....

Also according to the OCED Nz now has the 2nd highest cost of housing in the western world,
2nd only to GREECE, for gods sake(omg)....this article was a recent one from 6th nov.... it used to be...

My favourite language is French - but I would love to learn Chinese as there will be heaps of good jobs in nz if you speak both chinese and english - in tourism industry and in business here.

It is very windy in Auckland too - it never used to be like this- the weather patterns have changed as it used to be warm and humid here, raining all the time, then sun and you could not sleep at...

It is, even if I won some money I would not buy in Auckland until there is a correction as houses are way overvalued - this 1-brm damp thing in ponsonby cv 220k sold the other day for $470k .

I agree with the bit about only wanting investors in NZ, shutting 1st home buyers will not lower the prices of houses at all, but what it will do is allow more houses available for the investors,...

Don't worry davros1984 you are not going mad, I agree with you wholeheartedly. You have to live where the jobs are and Auckland is the only large city in nz and is where the majority of the jobs are....

Ponsonby is the best, lots of cafes, cool drinking holes etc, is perfect for a couple with no kids, walking distance from the CBD, or if are beach people mission bay or kohimarama is the best.
