The B****y wind in Wellington

The B****y wind in Wellington
Is it just me, or does it seem windier in the Wellington area this Spring than other years? 5 days out of the last 7 I've had to retrieve the garden furniture from all around the garden, which is very unusual.
Also does the b****y wind get you down. I mean to the point you could scream?

main reason I know I don't want to stay where we are atm. not sure if we will head further North or leave the Islands altogether. Hate the fact that for 3mths I'm practically crapping myself in my own home

Mrs F, do you think it's windier than other years? It sounds like it's pretty awful where you are.

Re: The B****y wind in Wellington
well this is my second Spring and it seems the same as last year. Think half the problem is the structure of the house, being weatherboard and raised the wind crashes around and under and the house creaks and groans. Double glazing not up to UK standards so wind whistles through them and down the fire place.
This mornings dog walk I spend half the time walking forward but being stationary

Our last house was built like that and once the wind was so fierce it shook the house and bed, it did scare me as I was in the bed at the time. I thought it was a quake. Hope it passes very soon.

It has definitely been very windy this winter/spring. More so than the last few years.
We've lost a few trees, plastic greenhouse roof, plant pots everywhere etc.
The wind keeps making the house vibrate and make cracking noises.
But it's weather, you can't do anything to change it, so why let it get you down?

I know someone who recently moved here took on the Rimutaka Hill Road with his motorbike on a windy day, he said never again. Mind you he did do it again, just not when the wind was so strong.

Lol. Is it not windy in Auckland then? Is it a Wellington thing?. I know it's called 'Windy Wellington' but we are 40 mins 'up the road'.
Our Cocker Spaniel's ears are a sight to behold in this wind.

I've seen stronger winds in England than in Auckland. We did get a few bad days but nothing like your winds. No garden furniture blowing down the street!

Well you will live in the "Roaring Forties" Read about this when we were first looking at emigrating to NZ & was one of the first things to put us off Welly.

I think the wind is awful this year too - and I'm just north of Auckland. I've had the umbrella uproot (it was closed) and break my glass patio table and had to retrieve furniture and plant pots across the garden.
The house shakes (brick & tile),but we are a bit exposed on a hill
Its also a nightmare as I wear dresses and not trousers
Gets on my nerves for sure
