Re: Just made me glad we were back in the UK

Hey Janeyray,
Congratualtions!! Great news.

Hope Archie continues to get better.

I fell pregnant in Oz & it prompted me to return to UK sooner than planned. Like you, couldn't imagine how it...

Re: Removals

Hi,

used Kent from Oz to Uk. Very happy with them. Then Bishop's Move within UK, happy with them too.

Some time ago, a previous poster said don't touch Grace with a bargepole.

Re: What has been your most funniest or best time?

Best experience - so many, difficult to choose one but if I had to I would say a holiday in Mount Kosiosko (wrong spelling but right pronunciation) National Park. I've never been much of a walker but...

Re: English Spiders!? Aussie Spiders!?

No matter what anyone says, no matter how many statistics tell you a spider bite is unlikely, if you have a phobia then you're gonna find living in Oz a bit tough.

I have always hated spiders &...

Re: Moving back to UK from Australia.

For me the main reason for returning was homesickness, I missed my friends & family so much & I also missed loads about the UK. I left the UK for Oz with adventure in mind, was quite happy in UK just...

Re: Going with no money

We sold the house before we went but returned to Blighty so I wished we hadn't sold. However, husband is glad we sold, even though it's difficult to step back on to the property ladder.

Re: Cheltenham or Guildford?

I don't know Guilford but live in Cheltenham. Personally I don't like it, all fur coat & no knickers, as far as I'm concerned. No real diversity of people, no real substance. Very attractive regency...

Re: And so it ends

Sorry things are feeling so tough for you, it's so hard when one of you is happy & the other isn't.
It was the same for me & my husband - within a month I knew I could never settle in Oz but Mr...

Re: Aussie Libraries

When I was in Oz I was staggered at the cost of books so used the local library a lot, even second hand books were very expensive, IMO.
I was fortunate in that I had a lot of books with me which I...

Re: Paki’s in Australia

Excellent post, Covenant.

I too feel depressed & exasperated by the racism alive & well in UK & I am astonished at the justifications for using blatantly racist & offensive terms like paki etc....

Re: Filosofical post from Aus

Personally I balk at all these bland cliches - life is too short (is it?), have no regrets, all you need is a positive mental attitude, things happen for a reason, if you don't try you'll always...

Re: Removals-aaarrrggghhh!

The whole removal thing is so inconsistent isn't it?

We used Kent when leaving Oz & have nothing but praise for them. Kent used Bishop's Move over here & they were great too.

Sorry you had a...

Thanks for this Banksia.
