We used Wridgeways.....they were excellent in their organisation, price and were professional BUT.....

Our container arrived in the UK about five months before we were ready for it as we were living with my parents for that long when we arrived back in the UK.

It was stored at somewhere down south with a company called Whites (I think) and they were very good when it came to delivery.

When our container was unpacked there were lots of things that were damaged, a lot to do with how things were packed at the departure point in Perth. When I tried to claim on the so called insurance I was told that it wasnt insured during the storage months so I couldn't claim !!???? Although the damage was done in Perth before it even left the country (handles left wrong way up on drawers so caused indentation in wood - food left in fridge! etc) SO....

Make sure if you intend to store you items/container when it arrives in the UK you take out insurance. Our mistake but it was never explained.

We used Kent when returning from Port Kennedy. We had used them when we moved from Adelaide to Perth & they did a good job (apart from when they dropped the widescreen TV off the back of the container truck!!) & we knew the UK agents were John Mason.

Incidentally, John Mason in Liverpool took 2 blokes 2 days to pack up & containerise our stuff but Kent in Perth took 4 guys 3 days to pack the same amount!

Like Janey we noticed some damage when it was all unpacked: fridge was packed first as soon as they unplugged it so was growing some interesting mould by the time it got back to UK & some wood furniture was packed with not enough paper so the brown parcel tape was exposed to the surfaces & the varnish came off with it when we unpacked. We didn't insure anything though.

We haven't used them yet, but got quotes from OSS International - so far we have been very impressed with their professionalism etc. etc.

Presume from the replies that you are in Oz (don't know where Rockingham is)? If so, can't help as I went back from US.

BUT, one issue I only recently was reminded of is that the company at one end may not be the same as the company at the other end. I used Wheaton in US (my US to UK move) and they were brilliant - but the people at the UK end weren't so great.

Similarly, contacted Wheaton from the UK when I came back and again the UK end wasn't great (Britannia; packing resulted in damaged boxes) but at the US/Wheaton end they were pretty OK. They certainly dealt with the insurance claim efficiently.

So the lesson is that with international moves, it's not always "one company" you are dealing with. Wheaton uses several affiliates in the UK and even though I guess they could discontinue business with any UK affiliate they get complaints over, my guess is they don't have limitless choices.

In the past I've seen people post the two companies they ended up dealing with (overseas end and UK end) - and then you could check with whatever Oz company you get quotes from what co. they will use at the UK end... just a thought.

Can anybody recommend any removal companies in Adelaide for moving back to UK please? And if they don't mind how much they have been quoted. Also when we came to Australia we took out insurance and the only thing damaged was our leather suite. It was ripped and the leather had stretched. The insurance company back in UK told us to get quotes for repair but after ringing various leather repairers we still haven't had any luck as people are promising to ring back and don't or make arrangements to come and take a look but don't turn up. So we were wondering whether to bother with insurance this time around.
Thanks
Joanne

We used a company called Movements International and a guy called Michael Mclaren dealt with us, it was a really proffesional service and we also shipped our car back and it took in total about eight weeks. White and Co were the company in England who transported it to our new house.

Hi,

used Kent from Oz to Uk. Very happy with them. Then Bishop's Move within UK, happy with them too.

Some time ago, a previous poster said don't touch Grace with a bargepole.
