Hubby got the job in Northwood and we will be moving sometimes this spring.
I want to stay until may, so my 10 year old daughter can take her tests in her school over here.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel......I cant wait....
If anybody can recommend good schools around Northwood, or tips how to find them, I'm grateful for every tip.

Hi,
There is a secondary school called Haydon in Wilshire Lane which I think is in the catchment area & has a v good rep. Also, Potter St, school. Not sure of address but perhaps it's Potter St!! I think it has an OK rep but not as good as Haydon. You could put both names in a search engine for more info. You can also access Osted reports off the net.
Good luck.

Of course, it hasnt been easy. Finding new jobs and getting school sorted and getting used to all the differences. But we knew it wouldnt be easy. the nice thing is the feeling that it'll be worth all what we went through.

There's a brand new school being built 5 mins walk from us - will be open for 1st intake Sept 2006. It is a building site now but you can see the basic shape taking place - going up very quickly. I've tried to find a website with details - the best I can find so far is this
http://www.nlpplanning.com/projects.php?id=12
But I'll keep trying.
Cheers

yes got your email..lovely house in the right area and I like 1930 houses anyway.
Life could be so easy..buy your house get kinds into that new school....
Unfortunate house prices in general are to high and schools are all full with long waiting lists.
I tried to contact that new school...but something wrong with the tel.nr.
When are you leaving for OZ? Are you considering renting your house out?
Cheers

I don't think we'll rent the house out as we need the capital to fund a house purchase in Oz. I don't have a date yet as I'm due to be made redundant from work but they haven't given us a date yet!
By the way, it is predicted that there will be an increase in UK house prices in 2006, albeit a modest one (source - today's metro paper), so I don't think they're going to get any cheaper!

I did hear an interesting thing the other day on TV, one should get the worst house in the best area.
I dont think that you house qualifies for that...I could just move right in

I don't really like this policy very much - the nice old characterful houses are being replaced by square soulless blocks of flats.
