Re: NCR llockdown
Yesterday 6 more cases to 219. Saturday's test number down to 15.7k individuals.
Active 2,479, up 38
Location detail
NCR up 6 at 111 and 51% of all cases. Its 6 largest cities with a higher 69 cases. QC 23, Manila 16 cases.
CL 15, 4A 26 Cavite 9, Rizal 9.
These 3 regions with 69% of all cases.
Visayas 26, MIndanao 30 cases.
Dr John talking about covid less these days but in a recent video there was an interesting graph of US data from the CDC reviewing the past advantage of vaccination over non vaccination:
This is protection against death. Though there is a much smaller relative protection advantage against being diagnosed as a case.
Even recently death protection was as high as x8. Though we know Omicron is killing those with comorbidities and the US with a large population of such people.
Dr J has recently been promoting "natural immunity". Bemoaning the failure of bodies like the ONS and CDC to publish data on the covid outcomes for the unvaccinated but previously infected.
The immunity benefits of vaccination for those vaccines used in the US were tested in a recent study done in a Californian University and the results are reviewed in this Medcram video:
This is the first result showing antibody response. It declines for all the vaccines after a while....but if you watch further they all show a consistent response through time for memory T and B cells.
When comparing vaccination vs infection and "natural immunity" the more consistent immunity given by vaccines is an advantage not fully appreciated, paraphrasing the words of the Medcam MD presenter of this video.

"The only "establishment" where I have been asked for my vacc card recently was the BI!"
Yes rather strange. I was at both BI and NBI yesterday. One would have thought that NBI would be the more strict of the two, no vaccinations card checks and what is social distancing???
However one has to remember that BI is mostly visited by those not to be trusted foreigners.

Covid vs influenza and pnuemonia deaths in the UK
Dr J reviewed this ONS data in a recent video.
Shows some reliable percentages for deaths "with" and "from" covid and also shows relative death tolls comparing the novel covid with two well established respiratory diseases. Many people have doubted that the "from" percentage of covid is anywhere near what you see on the chart. About 60% now, but has been higher. And many downplay the seriousness of covid now, which from the other chart is showing a significantly higher number of deaths "from" in Omicron times compared to those from influenza and pneumonia. Apart from suffering long term effects from covid, although they are less lately with Omicron.
Weekly report later.

Re: NCR llockdown
Yesterday well over a 100 more national cases at 539. Yet test numbers were actually a little less than they have been for the past few days, down to 18.1k on the 16th. National positivity now at 3.0%.
Deaths 6
Active 3,829, up 367. ABS CBN say highest since May 9.
Location detail
NCR up 68 at 282 and 52% of all cases. Its 6 biggest cities with 187 cases...that is nearly two thirds of the NCR total. QC 66, Pasig 40, Manila 38 cases.
Region CL down to 16 but 4A up a few cases to 74, the highest this week so far. Cavite 29, Rizal 15 cases.
These 3 regions accounting for 69% of all cases.
In the Visayas WV up to 51. Bacolod 14, IloIlo City 15 cases.
The region higher at 95 cases. Again, the highest so far this week.
Mindanao also higher at 40 cases. Again the highest so far this week. But no large city reports there..
So further signs of case increase in the NCR and to a lesser extent in regions 4A and WV. One more report to be added today and then I expect these trends to be confirmed for the week in my weekly report on Sunday.
For once I agree with the Health Secretary:
https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/tops...d-cases/story/
Problem will be there are Alert levels in place which are much less relevant now in this Omicron variant phase.
The Cebu masks in public issue continues. The governor of Cebu following Isko Moreno in Manila with the face shields earlier this year.
https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/06/17/...face-mask-rule
The latest Asian data by number of announced cases:
Discounting DPRK for obvious reasons all SE and E Asian countries in the table with established downward trends in cases:
Taiwan cases.
Taiwan deaths starting to fall too. Taiwan open with its data, but not China! Saying under 100 cases last 4 days.
Deaths 6
Active 3,829, up 367. ABS CBN say highest since May 9.
