Re: Adult toys... *NSFW topic*

It is certainly quite likely that they will search every box. Remember that we are talking about customs agents, the zealousness and arrogance are generally at pretty high levels with many of this...

Re: Adult toys... *NSFW topic*

My own understanding is that such things generally are not allowed in Qatar. Certainly I do know that a friend who once tried to bring a number of non-electric toys was stopped and the items...

Re: Flying in/out of Doha

If as seems likely the Ukrainian crash was a trigger happy goon then it would seem reasonable that the need to be more sure of what is going on has escalated to its more appropriate critical level...

Re: Iran - You leaving or staying?

You'd have to think Qatar would be fairly safe. Large reason for the blockade was their general friendliness and support for Iran and included withdrawing from the coalition fighting in Yemen. Iran...

Re: Internet Access- Privacy and Security

The router likely has remote access enabled so they can do that sort of thing. I bet they get hundreds of calls a day but assuming you can log in to the router and access its management screens you...

Re: Doha - Reputable real estate agents (rentals)

Not so much any more. Since the arse fell out of the 12 month rental market a lot are offering "no commission". Simply put they are hurting with serious pain and a lot offering 6 and 3 month terms...

Re: no salary for 4 months

It's one thing to have laws and statutes but where is the benefit when those charged with enforcing them are beholden to, in the pay of, in thrall of, the accused?
Qatar has implemented such laws,...

For sure the region will remain essentially medieval long after we are all gone and yet every small step of progress should be encouraged. I'm not religious in the least and yet I have no issue with...

Re: Doha - Reputable real estate agents (rentals)

Re: Watch UK TV for free please

I’ve found the iPlayer service on my ATV to be scratchy of late. Mostly works fine but will throw errors from time to time usually on live news. Re-trying often works, sometimes it takes a few...

Re: Qatar Living Costs (what do you budget?)

I'm just back in Doha for a short 2 month (and a bit) contract. Not been out and about much, Ramadan but it all looks much like I left it at the end of 2017. The train is apparently running but I...

Re: Personal “Toys”

There is a fruit shop on Sukhmvit Soi 22, just across the road from the scruffy little bar area. As you walk out of the Queens Park hotel turn right and walk about 100-200m toward Sukhumvit road and...
