I didn't need one when we got ours - just the passport number and a credit card so we could top them up online. That was with Vodafone.

If you're unlucky like me and get a jobsworth you may have to get a certificate from...

Personally I wouldn't bother getting them before you go over.

You can pick up for example a Vodafone PAYG SIM for $2 in the shops.

We were lucky enough to get it. Fantastic value at $144 a week all in for a 2 bed 1st floor unit.

Pretty basic - but considering the money it was well worth it - and we stayed the full 12 weeks....
