Hi, bought my dearest the IXUS 850. Brilliant!

it has the larger CCD, and a wide angle lens. Avoid the 900 which has a higher pixel count, but pixels + small CCD = noise.

My father has just bought the new Panasonic with a true 28mm lens. If you like taking views then I would certainly take a look at it as it means you get quite a lot more in the shot than a standard digital camera. Not sure how much it is but he's a real photo buff having had SLR cameras for at least 40 years and the quality of this has even impressed him. Its also tiny (not much bigger than my V3 mobile phone and has some anti shake technology which actually seems to work. The quality of the pictures he sent me was amazing and the difference compared to his Sony (DSC-P10 I think) was huge..

I use an Olympus C-7000. Few years old now, but a great camera.

I got a C-8080W not bad but the auto focus is crap in low light and the manual focus is worthless. Would have a paid a little bit more for an SLR but the OH wanted the video function

Yep, it sucks in low light. Not found a digital camera that is any good in low light. Ended up using a mini tri-pod with my Olympus.

Maybe someone knows one that is?

I am considering this camera. Anyone got one or know anything about them?
I can get one for less than $400 at the moment and the standard price is $550

Canon Powershot A710. 7.1 mp and 6x OZ. Love it. Got it through photo continental - www.photocontinental.com.au who were really helpful. Can't remember how much it was, most of it was paid by our insurance company. Also used dpreview for more info.
