My hubby worked until the end of May and got ALL his tax back, I know it was only a months worth but it was close to £1000. It's paying for my Son to visit us in a few weeks, well worth it. I just nominated him to receive it on our behalf and they paid it straight into his bank account.

I've just looked at the form, we didn't fill one of those out only the P85 and we got the rebate. I'm sure the other form is for if you claim for overpayment AFTER the end of the tax year.

Yes, that's the one I mean. I remember helping to fill in a few R40's when I worked as an Administrator, usually for people who had two jobs. They were filled in after the end of the old tax year. People used to fill them in to check they hadn't paid too much tax.

The P85 has a section to fill in, saying who any overpayment of tax should be refunded to. So forget about the R40, you don't need to fill it in.
