Shall i help you Ast............ let me just get the info....... C x

The dreaded taxman!!!! Phoned tax office and they sent me 2 forms
P85 - leaving the UK
R40 - Claim for repayment (dont think i will be bothering with this one though)

Family Allowance - wrote to them and after 3 weeks they have sent me a form
CH181 - Child benefit for people who are leaving the UK

Child Tax Credits - wrote to them and after 2 weeks they wrote back and said just to let them know the date we are leaving and that we would be entitled to them up until that date.

HTH........... C x

These numbers will be expensive or impossible to call from outside the UK. Find an alternative number beginning with 01 or 02 - the HMRC website or http://www.saynoto0870.co.uk should be able to help.

Here's a direct link to enable you to find the number for your local tax office. Use the 3 digits on your P45 or P60 to find which office you need to speak to.

Tax credits are like NTL. You will still be arguing the toss with them months or even years after you left the country. Useless w@nkers! I rang and wrote to each several times confirming what was happening and they still got it wrong.

Thanks for some good advice and links on this thread. Have downloaded the tax forms but does anybody know where I should send them?

Thanks
Katherine

I sent mine to my local tax office, if you are employed then ask your employer, they should have the address

Otherwise you could phone IR and they'll be able to tell you.

If you have a look at my earlier post it's got a link to the tax offices. Find which one is yours and send it to them.
