Avoid Phillipstown and Aranui.
Suburbs like Merivale, Papanui, Cashmere and Beckenham are nice, but can be pricey.You could look at places like St Albans, Bishopdale, Parklands and Ilam will be nice...

It really isnt that bad, seems as though you got unlucky with your first place to live (some of the local lasses there might be friendly enough though....for a fee) but the bar there, the Bicycle...

I may be shot down in flames here, but isnt "Our Mate" which they sell in Countdown here in Chch English Marmite exported under a different name (rather than that god awful stuff they call Marmite).

Thanks everyone, kind of interesting that immigration didnt seem to concerned with the slightly elevated results once they established something like Hepatitis wasn't the issue.
