Spend 1 year getting the right visa instead of being forced to leave the country if things go bottomsup over there...

why would you not let the grant expire ? All houseprices will go down by 21000 AUD the exact same day anyway... it will actually SAVE you money to wait, because you will pay less tax.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Be honest about it on your application though. It's a minor offense, could happen to everyone really. Maybe take it as a good lesson not to do stupid things again...
