Smile Wanted job in australia

Hi
My brother is in Melbourne. Recently he migrated to Australia. He is a CNC machinist. He is looking for a job. He could not find. He has applied many jobs but every employer ask him local experience. He doesnt have. What to do? Could any one give suggestion for him. Appreciate for this.

Has he been to any temp agencies to find temporary work in the meantime? A lot of times that is all it takes. Just a couple of months of temp work gives you Australian experience.

Local experience ?... man , I've never been to Australia and my CV says I have 10 years local experience.
Who cares, just lie man, get the job and do the job, who cares about "local experience"

The people who are filing honest applications and aren't lying about their employment history probably care.........

Have you tried to get a job yet? When your prospective employer decides to check up on your history how daft will you look?

The CV's I used to sift through when back in the UK nearly all had a fair amount of bullshit on them. Some its just plain obvious, others were harder to detect. It is possible to get away with it though depending on the type of job being applied for.

I know of a few people here in Australia who have bullshitted about local experience. All you need is a mate who is prepared to vouch for your non-existant Oz work history and supply you with references. Morally its not right, but the way the job market is here in Oz at present its certainly a dog eat dog situation

haha... who cares about how "daft I will look" ?... I will smile at him , say "man.. got me haha...take care mate" and I'll get hired at the next company.
Who cares, everyone's doing it. The poor suckers who think that it's all about honesty won't think so for long and after seeing punters like me smile at them and lie their way in, they will do the same.

It's just that I have been through this whole thing already, I already moved away from being honest and loyal a long time ago.

I take dorothy's point and would rather be upfront atall times, BUT if stretching the truth to get a job is necessary, well....... we all have to eat after all and desperate times call for desperate measures.Of course I would not expect any mod to approve such an action On the issue of visa application however, i know a tale of a uk civil servant that got the visa through work, moved his family, sold the house and all furniture, started at work in Oz and the first morning was called into the office and basically had it all revoked, job, visa, home, the lot because he had been misleading regarding certain issues from a long time ago, quite minor too and although no longer relevant, still a lie at the end of the day, apparently, so i wouldnt lie on a visa application. He must be suicidal.

So your employer checks your visa out and sees that you've only ever held one visa (since you've never been here b4) and it certainly wasn't granted ten years ago (as it would have expired by now given you've never been here to even validate....). Excellent start to your new life, lying from day one....
