Yes, i do think that Australia is set for recession...may deal with it better than UK - who knows? all i know is that we moved to Oz in aug 2008 after selling our house etc. but returned a year later...

You are right, it is very different if you are able to skip between 2 countries and 'get your fill'. For us with 2 little 'uns in tow it would cost $10k to visit home at xmas, so it really wouldn't...

well, OH has always been self employed so we didn't tell them we were off the boat as we knew that they would want 6months (something i picked up off expats!).

Yep,the wages aren't as good as UK. It really got OH down over there, he called for 1 job and when he said he was a plumb from the UK they replied "you may as well be a mechanic...
