Re: Solar panels

I visited the international solar conference in Frieburg Germany in 2006 and have spent some time studying solar. The most cost effective installation that will generally pay back quite quickly is...

Re: Wine recommendations?

If you are dining with the Spanish or celebrating, a bottle of ´Lan´ (red with red lable) or ´Coto´ (red) will always go down well. It is not 1.99 but more like 4.80 (Coto) to 6 euros + for Lan. ...

Re: What houses ARE selling?

Yes Fiona there are still buyers out there and some houses are definitely still selling. As a surveyor working Valencia to Murcia and inland I get a good idea of what´s really happening. Off plan is...

Re: Cold floor

As a surveyor I am professionally bound to give you a serious answer. It is however correct that insulating the underside of the slab will give you little benefit. Potentially you could foam inject...

Re: House Values - Alicante Province

Recent valuations reflect the price needed for a quick sale and many agents are in need of cash flow. If you sell low, they still get a decent commission, you lose - they win. It is true that values...

Re: Some honesty re: house prices please

As a surveyor I am seeing buyers getting good deals. Advertised prices have dropped in some cases, but many have stayed the same as 6 months ago however in reality most vendors are ready to do a...

Re: Property Prices

I have carried out buyer surveys all through this summer. I have more Dutch and Irish clients than usual but Brits are still buying. Most are getting good deals at around 20% less than they might...

Re: Areas of Costa Blanca that are not dead in winter?

Denia is a good choice,

Most bars and restaurants open in winter and more likely to have live music nights etc in some pubs. Javea good too as is coastal stretch including Moraira and Calpe.

Re: Builder done a runner - what now?

They should take legal advice, but consider putting a charge on the Builder's assets (which may include property in the UK). People can hide money and close companies but hiding property is difficult...
