Just a quick one on bank cheques, They can be stopped!!! Also if you do need to verify one you can call the bank and they can confirm it is genuine.

My Wife brought her bike over it was very easy and a lot cheaper than buying a new one over here, Also she knew the history of the bike.

Latrobe is a lovely place, We went for a visit and had a look at the playtypus, The only thing we found was not many nice resonably priced place for food!!!

If your with the Commonwealth there are two fee options $4 or $6, The $6 is only worth having if you visit branches to withdraw money more than once a month or write more than two cheques per month....

Like people have said the thing I would check on would be local ATM's when I moved over I opened a westpac account, But after a few months realised that Commonwealth had a better ATM network so moved...
